Hulda Elizabeth Kurth Watkins
5 November 1892 --- 12 April 1972

Hulda Elizabeth Kurth was born November 5, 1892 at Fulda, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Young Kurth. She attended school at Elmore, Minn. She was united in marriage to Roy C. Watkins of Tama, Iowa on May 10, 1917, at Elmore, Minn. The young couple moved to Eagle Grove in 1921, where Mr. Watkins was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

The couple became the parents of two children, a son, Burvene and a daughter, Elaine. Mr. Watkins passed away in 1961 and Burvene lost his life in the Marshall Islands in World War II.

Hulda became ill at her home, Tuesday, April 11, and entered Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge. She died Wednesday, April 12, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine, (Mrs. Clifford Mickelson), Webster City; three granddaughters; and one great granddaughter. Also surviving is a brother, Gerald Kurth, Elmore, Minn.; two sisters: Mrs. Clara Thompson, Elmore, Minn., and Mrs. Irene Weston, Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and three brothers: William, Arthur, and Herman Kurth.

Mrs. Watkins was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, a 50-year member of Eastern Star, a member of the Rebekah Lodge, White Shrine, and the B of RT Auxiliary. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Elmore, Minn.
