Carl Stanley Geis
9 September 1896 --- 2 January 1973

Carl Stanley Geis was born September 9, 1896 at Brooklyn, New York, the son of George and Mary Geis.

He received his education in the Brooklyn Public Schools, and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was united in marriage to Amanda Kirkeberg of Eagle Grove, on August 2, 1920, at the Presbyterian parsonage in Fort Dodge. The couple then made their home in Chicago, Boston, Mass., and New York, during which time Mr. Geis was the Eastern representative of the Pyle National Co. as a salesman of railway supplies. Mr. Geis retired after 30 years with the Pyle National Co. because of his health. He was vice-president of the company at the time of his retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Geis had returned to Chicago before his retirement, and then moved to Eagle Grove in 1960 to care for Amanda's mother, Mrs. Joren Kirkeberg.

Carl entered Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, on January 1 and died there on Tuesday, January 2, at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 23 days.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Heisley of Ridgewood, N.J.

Carl was a member of the Presbyterian Church while in New York. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Eagle Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 4 at 2 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Rev. Marion L. Blake officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The Eagle Grove Legion Post provided military rites at the grave.
