Marien Marcella Amerson died on Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City, Iowa, at the age of 71. Survivors include her daughter, Amy Schneider; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Joe Crossley, and wife, Jerry, Hardy, Iowa, and Don Crossley, Carlos, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; and her son-in-law, Jeff Schneider.

Marien Marcella Crossley was born on September 9, 1930, near Hardy, Iowa, to Earl and Marcella Schreiber Crossley. She received her education in the Vernon Consolidated School near Renwick, Iowa, graduating from high school there. After her schooling, she worked for a time as a dental assistant for Dr. Long in Renwick.

She was married to Arnold L. Amerson on June 29, 1952, at the old Methodist Church in Renwick. The couple farmed the family farm south of Renwick. They retired and moved into Renwick in the late 1980's. Her husband died on March 10, 1995. She was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She became a resident of the South Care Center in Humboldt, Iowa, in 1999, and then moved to the Crestview Manor in Webster City in 2000.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Renwick with Reverend Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial was in the Vernon Township Cemetery in Rural Hardy. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements.
