Morris Edgar Christian
2 March 1891 --- 25 November 1969

Morris Edgar Christian was born March 2, 1891 at Meridan, Iowa, the son of Erick and Angeline Younglove Christian. He received his education in the Alta, Iowa school, and then moved to North Dakota, where he lived for four years before residing in Montana for five years. He enlisted in the Army at Forsythe, Montana on July 22, 1918 and served until December 12, 1918 receiving his discharge from service at Camp Dodge, Iowa.

On December 25, 1918 he was united in marriage to Lucile Bonner at Eagle Grove. The couple became the parents of seven children, six of whom survive. They are: four sons, Morris Christian, Jr., Webster City; Donald Christian, Ft. Dodge; Duane Christian, Eagle Grove; and Jerry Christian, Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Rose (Mrs. Wayne Reed) [Read], Eagle Grove; and Gladys (Mrs. Carlos Dokken), Aurora, Ill.; also, 26 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Morris was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the American Legion Post at Eagle Grove. He had lived in Eagle Grove since his marriage and had been employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a boilermaker's helper until retiring at the age of 65.

He entered the Veterans hospital at Des Moines on September 3rd of this year, and died there on November 25, at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 23 days.

Mrs. Christian survives Morris who was the last member of his family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. A son, James Christian, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, at the Church of The Open Bible in Eagle Grove, with Dr. Lloyd W. Meyer officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove with military services by the American Legion conducted at the gravesite.
