Alealia Beatrice Fisher Hammond
8 May 1900 --- 19 April 1970

Alealia Beatrice Fisher was born May 8, 1900, at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Edward and Madie Mary Moore Fisher. She was educated in Mt. Vernon and grew to womanhood there. On April 24, 1917, she was united in marriage to Jesse William Hammond of Centralia, Illinois, at Centralia, where they made their home for the next 10 years. They then moved to Peoria, Illinois, where they lived for 15 years before moving to Eagle Grove in 1942, where Mr. Hammond was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and Oldson's Plumbing and Heating before his death on April 16, 1969.

Mrs. Hammond died in her sleep on April 19, just 1 year after her husband's funeral at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

She is survived by her children: Bobbie Hammond, Eagle Grove, Donald Hammond, Cedar Rapids, Jesse Hammond, Jr. Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Jane - Mrs. Lyle Tilghman, Eagle Grove, Miss Sharon Hammond, Marshalltown, and 6 grandchildren. Her mother, Mrs. Madie Fisher of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. They are: Harold Fisher, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Paul Fisher and Walter Fisher Jr., Peoria, Illinois; and Willard Fisher, Glenwood, Illinois; Mrs. Guy Wilkerson and Mrs. Warner Johnston, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Mrs. Charles Davis, Yucca Valley, California and Ruth, Mrs. Robert Green, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by her father, in addition to her husband.

Mrs. Hammond was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Grove, the Church Circle, and had been a deaconess of the church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church at Eagle Grove, with Rev. Arthur W. Anderson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
