Mabel A. Kirkeberg Mickelson
24 January 1892 --- 30 October 1978

Mrs. Mabel Agnes Mickelson, daughter of Knute C. and Joren Berven Kirkeberg, was born January 24, 1892, at rural Thor, Iowa. She attended a country school at Thor and Ladies Seminary at Red Wing, Minn. On June 3, 1913, she was united in marriage with Christian T. Mickelson of Thor. Mr. Mickelson operated a garage at Thor for a few years, later farming near Woolstock for a short time. They later returned to make their home in the Thor area. Mr. Mickelson died in 1952.

Mabel died Monday, Oct. 30, 1978 at the Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Kenneth, and infant twin sisters. Survivors include her son, Dr. Clifford Mickelson of Webster City; one daughter, Dorothy of Eagle Grove; a brother, A. M. Kirkeberg of Stanton, Ia.; two sisters: Amanda Geise of Webster City and Clar Parker of Sierra Madre, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mabel was a member of the Thor Lutheran Church, Naomi Circle, Sons of Norway and A.L.C.W. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 2, 1978, 2:00 p.m. at the Thor Lutheran Church, Thor. Rev. Marlin Ingebretson officiated and burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
