Amelia Watne
25 October 1884 --- 7 December 1968

Amelia Watne was born on October 25, 1884 at Stavanger, Norway to Thor and Kjerstin Hetland Watne. She was baptized shortly after birth at Stavanger and died at the Taylor Nursing Home, Eagle Grove, early Saturday morning December 7, 1968 after reaching the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 13 days.

She came to America with her parents at the age of 10, going first to Artesian, South Dakota. After living there for four years, they moved to Eagle Grove. She lived with her parents and later with her sister, Mrs. Anna Erickson on North Eagle Ave. until in August 1966 they moved to the Taylor Nursing Home. She attended the School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rasmus, and her sister, Anna, who died in February of this year. Those who mourn her departure are two brothers: Hans of Eagle Grove and Carl of Vallejo, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Lena Fischer of Webster City.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Schiller in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
