Ida Elizabeth Newcomb Wernet
28 February 1882 --- 1 June 1968

Ida Elizabeth Newcomb was born February 28, 1882, in Troy Township, Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of Monroe and Louise Decker Newcomb. She attended the Troy Township school and aided in the rearing of her brothers and sisters until her marriage to Joseph Wernet at Webster City on Feb. 17, 1909.

The couple farmed until 30 years ago when they moved into Eagle Grove, where she resided until her death on June 1, 1968 at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 3 days of age.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph, 2 brothers, Ed Newcomb, Eagle Grove; and Homer Newcomb, Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Mrs. Wernet was a member of the Baptist Church of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 3 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Albert Snyder of Mt. Ayr, a former pastor of First Baptist Church, Eagle Grove, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
