23 April 1882 --- 24 March 1967

Jacob J. Berg, 85, died Friday at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge where he had been a patient for 16 days.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at Samuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Marvin Dooley officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Berg is survived by his wife, one foster son, Harold Peterson of Castro Valley, Calif., one grandchild, and one brother, Thomas Berg of Camrose, Alberta, Can.

Mr. Berg was born in Norway, April 23, 1882. He was baptized and confirmed there, and in 1902 came to America to Centerville, S.D. In 1905 he homesteaded in North Dakota, and in 1913 began farming near Thor. On February 2, 1919 he was married to Martha Johannes [Johanson], and they moved to Eagle Grove in 1943. Mrs. Berg died in August of 1965, after 20 years illness.

On June 11, 1966 he was married to Bertha Groseth Rud, who survives. He was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church.
