Martha Johanson Berg
24 October 1886 --- 21 August 1965

Mrs. Jacob Berg, 78, died Saturday night in the Sisson Nursing Home at Humboldt where she had been a patient for five and one-half years. She had been ill for eighteen years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Samuel Lutheran church in charge of Rev. Jordan Jacobsen. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Berg is survived by her husband, one adopted son Harold Peterson of Castro Valley, Calif., one grandchild. Other survivors are three brothers and two sisters who live in Norway. They arc Andrew, Torger, and Thor Johanesen, Mrs. Thor Bjelland, and Miss Hannah Johanesen.

Mrs. Berg's maiden name was Martha Johanesen, and she was born Oct. 24, 1886, in Norway, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Torgusin Johanesen. She was baptized and confirmed in Norway and came to the United States and Eagle Grove in 1911. She was married to Jacob Berg Feb. 15, 1919, and they lived for many years southwest of Thor. They retired and moved to Eagle Grove in 1943.

Mr. Berg lives at 207 N. W. 2nd Street.
