Ole Martinius Hoiekvam
27 July 1885 --- 13 September 1967

Ole Martinus Hoiekvam was born July 27, 1885 at Story City, Iowa to Hadle O. and Matilda Lenora Ferguson Hoeikvam. He was baptized shortly after birth at Roland, Iowa, by Pastor Halter and confirmed on October 29, 1899 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died at the Clarion Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 1967 after reaching the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 16 days.

He moved to Eagle Grove when he was about 8 years old, where his father was a carpenter who helped build the former Evangelical Lutheran Church and also the old altar. In 1903 he went to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and retired at the age of 65. On September 1, 1909 he married Emma Mathre at Webster City and they made their home on South Iowa Avenue all of their married life. In June he was in the hospital at Clarion for a short time and again about a week ago was taken back there.

Those who mourn his departure are his wife, Emma; one son, H. D. Hoiekvam of St. Paul, Minnesota; 2 grandsons: Richard of Omaha, Nebraska, and Gregory Lee of St. Paul; one granddaughter, Judith Ann, Mrs. William Fredregill of Oakland, Illinois; one brother, Donald, Helena, Montana; sisters: Margarete, Mrs. Paul Kastler of Salt Lake City, Utah; Ruth, Mrs. Harold Miller, Portland, Oregon; Stena, Mrs. Albert Turner, South Orange, New Jersey; Hannah, Mrs. Werner Anderson of Canon City, Colorado; besides nieces, nephews, and other friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 at Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Rev. H. W. Schiller, Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
