Funeral services for Elmer Carr, 89, longtime Hancock County resident who died Saturday (Nov. 26, 1983) at a Cedar Falls hospital, will be held 10 a.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Norway Township Cemetery in the Kanawha area. The Rev. William G. Perkins of the Kanawha Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be for an hour before services at Christ Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Carr was born Oct. 23. 1894 near Kanawha to Abe and Sarah (McCarty) Carr. He attended school in Wright County and on Feb. 25, 1918 he entered the U.S. Army where he served in Europe during World War I. He was discharged June 12. 1919. On Feb. 23, 1924, he married Anna I. Larson in Eagle Grove. They farmed around the Kanawha area until the 1930s when Mr. Carr went to work for Hancock County, where he worked until his retirement. After retiring, the couple continued to live in the Kanawha area until the early 1970s when they moved to Belmond and later to Humboldt.

Following his wife's death in 1980, Mr. Carr moved to Minnesota where he lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nylo Carr. After his son's death in May 1983, Mr. Carr moved to Cedar Falls where he lived with his granddaughter. Mrs. Larry (Julie) Peck and family. He was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church.

Mr. Carr is survived by two sisters, Vivian Larson of Minot, N.D., and Mrs. Mae Kraft of Humboldt; a granddaughter, Mrs. Larry (Julie) Peck of Cedar Falls; a grandson, Jeff Carr, Des Moines, and five great-grandchildren. The Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
