Elizabeth Kluckhohn Hill
4 August 1905 --- 23 January 1964

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the First Methodist church for Mrs. Harlan Hill, 58, who died Thursday morning, Jan. 23, in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge. The Rev. Lyle Lieder officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

She had been in ill health for a year and had surgery twice during that time. Her last illness was about ten days. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband.

The former Elizabeth Kluckhohn was reared in this community. She was born on the family farm near Vincent, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Kluckhohn, moved to their Eagle Grove home when Betty was a young girl. She is a graduate of Eagle Grove high school and the State University of Iowa.

She did social service work for several years in the Bloomfield, Iowa area and attended St. Louis (Mo.) University. Later while stationed in St. Louis with the National Red Cross she again enrolled in St. Louis University and received a degree in the social welfare field.

For many years she was with the Disaster Committee of the American Red Cross and was sent by that agency to various parts of the United States when floods, tornadoes, or other disasters struck a community. She supervised their habilitations of persons and assisted them in again securing homes.

When she was married to Mr. Hill, about eleven years ago, she returned to Eagle Grove to reside in her old home, 1205 West Broadway, but continued to be on call for disaster work with the Red Cross.

Entering into the activities of her community, Mrs. Hill served on committees of the First Methodist church, was president for two years of the Eagle Grove Community Chest, was a past president of the Equality Club, and at the time of her death was secretary for the Woman's Club.
