Edwin B. Thompson, youngest son of Hank and Anna Hanson Thompson, was born Oct 19, 1895, in Wright county. His early childhood was spent on a farm and he attended the Goldfield public schools.

On April 29, 1918, at the age of 22 he enlisted in the United States army, serving overseas and participated in the famous World War I engagements of St. Mihiel, the Meuse, and Argonne Forest. After further duty in the army of occupation he was honorably discharged June 13, 1919.

Upon his return to civilian life, he resumed farming and on Feb. 25, 1920, he was united in marriage to Ida Larson of Goldfield, To this union three children were born: Wyatte Elmira who passed away in infancy; Wyatte Valaine of New York City, and Harold Axel of Goldfield.

Because of ill health, he retired from farming in 1944, and since that time he had made his home in Goldfield. On Jan. 16, 1951, he passed away suddenly of a heart attack. He is survived by his
wife, Ida; one daughter, Wyatte Valaine, and one son, Harold Axel; four grandchildren, and two sisters, Hannah Rasmussen of Goldfield, and Sena Pinder of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Axel and Elmer, and a sister, Minnie Rasmussen, all of Goldfield.

Services were held Saturday at the Wilson funeral chapel, Eagle Grove and Rev. Robert Kessinger of Goldfield Methodist church officiated. Interment services and military rites were conducted by the Goldfield American Legion Post 370. Burial was made on the family lot in Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield.
