E. O. Hovey passed away Tuesday morning at 10:30 at his home in the East Side, having reached the goodly number of eighty-one years. The cause of his demise was due to old age. The end came peacefully and without a straggle. He leaves one son, E. O. Hovey, of Pocahontas county, besides a large circle of friends to mourn his death. He was born in Norway on March 9. 1824 and there he grew to manhood, married and reared a family of three children, two of whom, both daughters, have passed beyond. His wife died many years ago in the old country. He came to America in 1883, settling on a farm in Hamilton county. For the past twelve years he has resided in this city. The funeral was held on Thursday at the United Lutheran church, Rev. Sleten having charge and the remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery.
