Asmus Neilsen Sorensen
2 March 1887 --- 5 July 1961

Asmus Neilsen Sorensen was born March 12, 1887, to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Christian Sorensen near Copenhagen, Denmark. He came to the United States at the age of 23 and during World War I served in the U.S. Army. After farming a few years, he worked for General Motors at Flint, Mich.

In February 1922, he married Mrs. Manda Clemmer Tippin of Clarion after which they farmed near Blairsburg. In June 1945, they retired to their Eagle Grove home.

Mr. Sorensen was taken to Mercy hospital, Ft. Dodge Tuesday night, July 4 and died the following night at the age of 74. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Torvik, at Sacquety Funeral chapel Saturday at 2 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his 4 brothers and 3 sisters in Denmark. He is survived by his wife and her five children: Charles C. Tippin, Grand Island, Nebr.; Leonard LeRoy Tippin, in Mexico; Mrs. Joe Kreimar, Ft. Dodge; Merle Adair Tippin, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Walter Fuller, Flint, Mich.; 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
