Dorothy Cleone Peterson was born on December 8, 1913, to Walter and Clytie Hulbert Peterson at Lyons, Neb. She grew up at Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School in 1932. She then attended the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Neb. She was united in marriage to Edward Wellman on July 5, 1934, at Papillion, Neb. In 1950, the family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. She worked in Eagle Grove for Scudders, Leuthold - Anderson Clothing Store and later for the Eagle Grove Middle School. Since the fall in 1997, she has resided at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove.

Dorothy Wellman died Monday, February 28, 2000, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 86. She is survived by two daughters, Maryln Roseberry of Carmel, Calif., and Linda Golbuff and friend, Dean T. Larson, Eagle Grove two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Elaine Morrow of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edward, since December 6, 1993.

A private family service was held on Friday at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with the Reverend James Seibert officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
