13 January 1831 --- 27 August 1909

Death of Mrs. Clough
Last Friday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. R. McCurry, occurred the death of Mrs. Hiram Clough. She had been ill for a long time and the end was not unexpected. Phoebe Catherine Barett was born near Montreal, Canada, January 13, 1831. She was married to Hiram Clough March 8, 1845, and died August 27, 1909. Five children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. Three are left to mourn her: O. W. Clough of Topeka, Kansas, and Ira O. Clough and Mrs. J. R. McCurry of this city. At the age of 18 years she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. She was an earnest worker in it, being a member of the official board for many years. The funeral was held Saturday, Rev. Chapter conducting the services. She was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, by the side of her husband. The entire community extends its sincere sympathy to the mourning relatives. Her son, H. W. Clough of Kansas has composed the following poem to the memory of his parents. .....
