Mrs. Stephen Wilcox Dies At Age Of 92
Mrs. Stephen Wilcox, 92, died Christmas eve at the Rotary Ann Home where she had been a patient for about two years. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 o'clock in the First Congregational church with the Rev. Emmett Braselton officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Wilcox is survived by her husband and six daughters, Mrs. H. L. Shipman, Miss Irene Wilcox, Mrs. Harold Farmer, of Eagle Grove; Miss Olive Wilcox, Mrs. Evelyn Driscoll and Mrs. Lyle Dawson of Des Moines, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Mrs. Lawrence Emerick of Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Wilcox was the former Lucretia Stryker, the daughter of John Stryker a pioneer Wright county farmer. Her mother was Nellie Johnson. Her grandfather Wm. Stryker after some years residence in Illinois came to Wright county in 1854 and settled in Troy township as one of the first band of settlers in the county. He was the first school director of Troy township and had various other township offices and was a leader in the Methodist church in Troy.

Mrs. Wilcox was born in Troy township and later taught school there and was married to Steve Wilcox in 1899. They farmed in that locality until 1915 when they moved to Eagle Grove and made their home on South Lucas Ave.
