Howard Jones, 73 years and 7 days, passed away suddenly Sunday evening at 10 o’clock of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Edith and son, Wesley; two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Kelling of Metzer, Ore., Mrs. Ray Griffith of Goldfield and a brother, Walter Jones of Goldfield.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church for Howard Jones, 77, who passed away at his home Sunday evening. Death was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife and son, Wesley.

The Goldfield Chronicle

Howard Henry Jones was born near Arthur, Illinois February 26, 1877, the son of John R. and Rebecca L. Willson Jones. He departed this life on Sunday evening, March 5, 1950 at his home in Goldfield, having reached the age of 73 years and seven days.

At the age of 17 years, he came from Illinois to Iowa settling near Goldfield.

On December 20, 1900 he was united in marriage to Edith C. Cameron. To this union three children were born, namely Veleda B., Wesley H., and John C. Veleda B., died at the age of four years and John C. in infancy.

In early youth deceased was converted and baptized into the Baptist Church, where he remained a true and active member until claimed by death.

He has made his home in this community since about 1894, recognized as a good and honorable citizen.

He is survived by his wife Edith and his son Wesley, by three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Baird of Jamaica, Illinois, Mrs. Jesse Kelling of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Mabel Griffith of Goldfield. Three brothers, Everett Jones of Los Angeles, Calif., Will and Walter Jones of Goldfield. There are 24 nephews and nieces, besides a host of friends who sorrow at his departure.

Kelling, Portland, Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Craighill, Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Carlson and son Harlan of Kanawha, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Storer, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Reichter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Griffith of Eagle Grove were among the many persons who attended funeral services for Howard Jones which were held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church.
