Phyllis Gloria Post passed away Monday, November 23rd, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa with her daughter by her side. She had been living at Urbandale Care Center in Urbandale, IA for the past four years.

Phyllis was born December 5, 1925 in Thompson, IA to Felix and Susan (Moos) Halverson. She attended Thompson Community Schools and graduated from Thompson High School in 1943, where she was active in band and played the flute. After high school she attended Estherville Teachers College in 1944 where she obtained a teaching certificate. She taught rural country school at Linden Township School #3.

On January 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Vincent Keil of Thompson, IA. They made their home on the Keil Family Dairy Farm, near Thompson where she was a busy farm wife, helping attend to milking machines, feeding cattle, hogs, and chickens. The couple also enjoyed traveling by car in the 50's. They raised two children on the farm, Marcia and Weston, until James was killed in an auto accident in May, 1963. The family then moved into town, to a home built by Phyllis' father who was a carpenter.

In June, 1969 Phyllis married Henry Bunting of Palmer, IA and the family relocated to Palmer. Henry passed away in April, 1980. In February, 1981, Phyllis married Gerd Post and they lived in Palmer, IA until his passing in April, 1986 due to complications from diabetes.

Phyllis was raised in the Catholic faith, attending St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Buffalo Center, IA until her marriage to James. The couple were members at Linden Lutheran country church at Linden Township, rural Thompson, IA, just a mile from the family farm. She enjoyed singing for several years in the Community Christmas Choir in Forest City, IA. After moving to Palmer, Phyllis was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. Following Gerd's death, Phyllis moved to Manson. She was a charter member of Faith (Lutheran) Community Church and enjoyed helping with the women's activities, Bible School, and was known for a while as one of the cookie ladies. She loved attending all the church events, especially bridal showers, baby showers, and weddings, as well as the Senior Saints Bible studies. Phyllis took her faith in God very seriously, always learning more in Bible studies and various social gatherings with the people of Faith Lutheran Church.

Phyllis moved to Des Moines to be closer to her daughter and her specialist doctors. She lived with her daughter and then various senior housing/nursing facilities, where she spent the last 18 years. Phyllis always enjoyed making pillows with lace; creating flower arrangements; painting classes; and was an avid newspaper reader. She also liked attending her granddaughter's activities whenever possible.
Phyllis said that while enduring many losses, having been widowed three times and losing an infant daughter, while also battling depression sporadically throughout her life, she had many happy years. She was grateful for her husbands' families, even after becoming a widow, she remained close to her step-children and their families.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Rosemary Keil; and three husbands, James, Henry and Gerd. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Keil of Des Moines, Iowa; a son, Weston (Sharyl) Keil of Manson, Iowa; two granddaughters, Mollie (Josh) Boersma and Jamie (Adam) Gerling and great grandsons Maverick and Cooper Boersma, all of Ames. She is also survived by step-son, Gary (Becky) Post of Des Moines; IA; step-daughters Peggy (Mark) Cummings of Adel, IA; and Nancy (Kent) Loehr of Fort Collins, CO; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
