Larry Melhus, 58, Savanna, died Wednesday at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran church, Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

He was born in Clarion, Iowa. He married Patricia Peterson in 1950. She died in 1978. He married Barbara Hitz in 1979.

He was a real estate broker and owner of Melhus Realty in Savanna. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Church and Moose Lodge, Savanna.

Survivors include the widow; daughters, Andrea Thomas, Naperville, and Susan Melhus-Lee, Colona; sons, Dr. Jeffrey, Galesburg. David, Hudson, Iowa, and Michael, Davenport; stepdaughters, Paula Kralapp, Leslie, Mich., and Laura Heeringa, Lynden, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and sisters, Donna Evans, Britt, Iowa, and Jan Gould, Panama City, Fla.
