Hans Sathre
25 January 1872 --- 8 February 1959

Hans Sathre died at the Lutheran Home, Hampton, Sunday, Feb. 8 at the age of 87. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Klaus Olson Sathre Jan 25, 1872 at Sognefjord, Norway. He came to Story County, Iowa at the age of 18 and a year later, in 1891, to Eagle Grove, where he worked for the C. and N. W. Railroad until his retirement in 1942. In 1904 he married Nellie Marcus, who survives him, as do two sons, Clifford of Madison, Wis., and Selmer of Sioux City and two daughters, Irene, Mrs. Clarence Larson of Clarion and Olga, Mrs. Walter Thomas of Clarion. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive him, and one brother, Thomas of Eagle Grove. Preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 11th, conducted at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth Torvik, pastor, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. He was a long-time member of the Eagle Grove Church.
