JOANNE K. PICKERING
Joanne Kay Hensch was born April 12, 1948, to Fred and Helen Johnson Hensch at Sibley, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Sibley, graduating from Sibley High School. Following her graduation, she attended Nettleton College of Business.

She was united in marriage to Gary D. Pickering in Sibley. The couple made their home in the communities of Sibley, Sioux Falls, and Goldfield, Iowa, before moving to Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was employed by the Eagle Grove EAGLE, and Video Exchange in Eagle Grove.

Mr. Pickering died in 2000. Joanne K. Pickering died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa, at the age of 52.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Hensch, Sibley; two daughters, Stacy Halgrim and husband, Ted, Eagle Grove, and Kim Mohr, Eagle Grove; two sons, Jeff Pickering, and wife, Tasha, Harcourt, Iowa, and Chad Pickering, and wife, Misty, Eagle Grove; six grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Stachour, Clinton, Iowa, and Lesa Kruger, Ashton, Iowa; and three brothers, Doug Hensch, Sibley, and Dan and Paul Hensch, both of Sioux Falls, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred; and husband, Gary.

Services were held Thursday, March 8, 2001, at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Stanley Peterson officiating. The body was cremated, and will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
