Melia Toresdahl Midland
12 April 1870 ---- 9 March 1958

Melia Toresdahl was born to the parents Swen and Ingeborg Toresdahl, April 12, 1870, at Vats, Norway, and passed away from this life at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, March 9, 1958 at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

In her family there were 6 half-sisters and brothers, and 3 sisters and 1 brother, William Toresdahl. All preceded her in death except a sister, Soverina, who resides in Norway.

In 1889 she came to this country to Des Moines, Iowa where she was employed before coming to Eagle Grove.

On November 14, 1891 she was united in marriage to Olaf Midland and to this union 5 children were born. The oldest, a son, died in infancy. Her husband passed away April 5, 1939.

Four children who survive her are Irene (Mrs. M. Olson of Sioux Falls, S. D.), Lulu, Myrtle, and Harry of Eagle Grove. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, besides her sister in Norway and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Midland was a kind and loving mother and devoted to her church. She was an active Christian worker as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Orville Olson in charge. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were her 6 grandson's, Orville Olson, Robert Olson, Lyle Midland, Donald Olson, Dale Midland, Marvin Midland.
