Celestin Joseph Loux, Jr.
21 February 1934 --- 27 February 2002

Celestin Joseph Loux Jr., 68, died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania, Mason City. A prayer service will be held immediately following visitation on Monday. Missionary Wanda Hagman will preside. A flag folding ceremony and "Taps" will also be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Celestin Loux Jr. Memorial Fund.

Celestin Joseph Loux Jr. was born Feb. 21, 1934, in Dayton Township, [Wright county] the son of Celestin Joseph and Maude (Legge) Loux Sr. He attended Clarion High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Eagle Grove where he began working with the railroad. He was united in marriage to Sheila Wicks in 1956. The family moved to Illinois where he worked as an electrician. They returned to Eagle Grove where he worked as an engineer for the railroad. He and Sheila divorced and he moved to Mason City where he lived until his death. In 1994, he took an early retirement from the railroad after 29 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed the simple things in life, including bowling and cribbage.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his sons; Celestin Loux III, of Mason City, Quinn Loux, of Eagle Grove; daughters, Denita Loux, of Denver, Col., Chris Oney, of Denver, Col.; nine grandchildren; Joshua, La Toshia and Felshia Loux, Nate and Maleah Loux, Siera and Cole Loux, Brandy and Derrick Oney; sisters Georgiana Buhrl, of Eagle Grove, Bertha Kurffman of Woolstock; a brother, Richard Loux of Eagle Grove; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory.
