Frederica Antonia Matson (Rasmussen) Peterson (1875-1960)

Mrs. Fredica [Frederica] Antonia Matson Peterson was born in Langland, Denmark on Sept. 5, 1875 to Mats and Georgena Rasmussen. She came to Goldfield with her parents in the spring of 1879. Her folks settled on a homestead west of Goldfield one year later. This was her home until she and her husband moved to Eagle Grove in 1943. Up until recently she resided at 551 N. Lincoln Ave. She died on June 4, at about 3:30 a. m. in the Bludnik nursing home. Her sojourn in this life was 84 years, 8 months and 30 days.

On March 19, 1901 she was united in marriage to Nels Peter Peterson. A week before her stroke they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

They have eight children living. One died in infancy. They are Joseph M. Peterson, Tak [Oak] Park, Ill.; William B. Peterson, MeMonte [DeMotte], Ind.; Reuben C. Peterson, Corkith [Corwith], Iowa; George S. Peterson, Clarion; Mrs. Ruth M. Halvorsen, Eagle Grove; Clarence L. Peterson, Goldfield; Lawrence H. Peterson, Abilene, Texas; Mrs. Edith I. Spangler, Eagle Grove, 28 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, one son, 2 brothers, three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Eagle Grove since April, 1951. Services were held at the Baptist, church June 6th at 2 p.m. Rev. Albert Snyder, was in charge. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.
