Funeral services for Venora Anderson, 74, were held from the First Lutheran Church in Clarion on Tuesday, August 19, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Carlton Shaw officiated and burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Venora died unexpectedly on Friday, August 15 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines of an apparent cardiac arrest.

She was born in Defiance, Iowa on June 14, 1912 and was the daughter of Charles and L. Ota Cox Legge. She attended grade school in Defiance and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to George Anderson on December 18, 1935 in Garner, Iowa. They made their home in the Goldfield and Clarion area where they engaged in farming. In 1973 they retired and moved to their present home in Goldfield.

Survivors include her husband, George of Goldfield, two sons: Richard of Fort Dodge, and Vernon of Apple Valley, Minn. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one brother, Merlin Hicks of Council Bluffs. Her parents, step-father and one brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Holmes Lutheran Church, Heritage Club, Senior Citizens, the Church Choir and various church circles.
