NELLIE MAE HORTON HINRICHS
Nellie Mae Horton was born February 21, 1900, the daughter of William and Susan Thompson Horton,
in Illinois. She was educated in the country school near Holmes, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Merrel M. Manning on September 13, 1916. To this union, three sons were born. They are: Harold Manning, Webster City; Gerald Manning, Holmes; and Bernard, who died at the age of seven days. She was married to Harry Eldon Hinrichs of Goldfield, Iowa, on May 21, 1952. The couple farmed near Holmes until his death September 2, 1958. She continued to make her home on the farm, and was living there until entering the Clarion Community Hospital, where she passed away on Monday, August 18, at the age of 86 years, five months and 27 days.

She is survived by her two sons, their wives, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son. Nellie was a member of the Holmes Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Holmes Baptist Church, Holmes, at 10:30 Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1986. The Rev. Pat Nemmers officiated, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The casket bearers were grandsons, and a grand son-in-law.
