Hannah Sjursdatter Johnson Hatland
25 December 1878 ---- 10 March 1955

Mrs. Hannah Hetland, [Hatland] 76, died March 10th at the Askvig-Crickmore Nursing home.

Mrs. Hetland had been ill for many months, and her death was not unexpected. She is survived by one granddaughter, Joan Umstead. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran church, in charge of the pastor Rev. Kenneth Torvik. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Hannah Hetland died early Thursday morning at a local nursing home, following a long illness. She was born Christmas Day, 1878 at Strandebarm, Hardanger, Norway to Shur and Inger Johnson. She came to this country in 1904. In 1907 she married Carl Hetland of Eagle Grove. He preceded her in death in 1920, as did their daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. LeRoy Umstead) in 1938, and a sister Melinda in 1926, and a brother, Tomberger in 1935. She is survived by a son-in-law, LeRoy Umstead and by a granddaughter, Joan Umstead.

She has been a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran church for many years. She was well known in the community, especially for care of the sick as a practical nurse.

Funeral services were conducted at the Evangelical Lutheran church Saturday March 12 by Rev. Kenneth Torvik, pastor. Interment followed at Rose Hill cemetery.
