Henry Selmer Jorstad
11 April 1886 ---- 20 December 1955

Henry Selmer Jorstead was born of parents Ole and Julia Jorstad, April 11, 1886 near Story City, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, near Story City, Iowa. He received his elementary education in the rural public school, near his home. He lived on the farm with his parents until March 1, 1920, when he and his two sisters came to Eagle Grove where he lived at the time of his death, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1955.

Mr. Jorstad was a member of Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He had been in poor health for many years. In the spring of 1954, his condition grew worse and he was a surgical patient at Iowa University Hospital at Iowa City.

Mr. Jorstad was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Ida and Margaret. He is survived by two brothers, Peter of Kansas City, Mo., and Ezra of Marshall, Minn, and one sister Rebecca, of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held from Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Thursday, Dec. 22, 1955 at 2 p.m. Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Mrs. L. E. Cupp and Miss Ann Falk sang at the service. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Rites This Afternoon For Henry Jorstad
Henry Jorstad, 69, died soon after noon Tuesday at his home at N. W. 7th Street. Mr. Jorstad is survived by one sister Miss Rebekah Jorstad of Eagle Grove and one brother Dr. E. O. Jorstad of Marshall, Minn. Funeral services will be this (Thursday ) afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Samuel Lutheran church. Rev. B. F. Molstre will officiate and burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
