Graveside funeral services for Carmon (Slim) Nichols, 77, were held Monday, September 13, at 11 a.m. from Mount Hope Cemetery, Dows. Reverend James R. Hunter of the United Methodist Church in Dows officiated.

Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Archie Bell, Chuck Bell, Roger Gardner, Gary Kramer, Kenneth Nielsen, and Charles Thurman.

Nichols died Friday, September 10, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City following a brief illness.

Nichols was born February 22, 1916, in Keosauqua, to Herchel and Naomi Humphrey Nichols. On August 19,1944, he was united in marriage to Letha O. Harris at Eagle Grove. After their marriage they lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa Falls, Radcliffe and for the past 21 years they made their home in Dows. Slim worked as a press operator at Franklins, now Frigidaire, in Webster City until his retirement in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Letha of Dows, 5 children; Burl of Kahoka, Missouri; Sandi Thomas and Kathi Hooper Franklin of Norman, Oklahoma; and Russ and Pattie of Dows; 2 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; and 4 step-grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Floyd and Lowell of Kahoka, Missouri, and Verlin (Dutch) of Mt. Sterling; and 3 sisters; Juanita Busby of Luray,
Missouri, Venita Merrick of Kahoka, Missouri, and Vada Bergman of Burnside, Illinois.
