Gudmund Aukland
13 April 1910 ---- 14 February 1994

Gudmund Aukland was born April 13, l910, the son of Ola and Bertha Nodland Aukland at Ombo, Norway. He received his education in Norway and rural Wright County schools.

He was united in marriage to Alice June Kvale of Goldfield on March 3, 1940 at the Holmes Lutheran Church. The couple farmed and remained in the Thor area until retiring and moving to Eagle Grove in 1975. Mrs. Aukland died in 1988.

He was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, the Sons of Norway, and the Eagle Grove Senior Citizens.

Gudmund Aukland died at his home in Eagle Grove, February 14, 1994, following a lengthy illness, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and one day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brother, Tommy. He is survived by his sons, Robert of Humboldt, and Olan of Thor; daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Marilyn) Howard of Stewartville, Minn.; two brothers, Lee of Duarte, Calif., and John of Fulda, Minn.; sisters, Bea Hamborg of Seattle, Wash., and Ellen Watland of Inwood; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 17 at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. The Rev. Fred Scherle officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements
