Bertha Nodland Aukland
28 August 1880 ---- 22 June 1954

Mrs. Bertha Nodland Aukland died Tuesday June 22 at a Fort Dodge hospital. She was born August 28, 1880 near Norris, Illinois to Thomas and Bertha Johnson Nodland. She was confirmed in her Christian faith while on a prolonger visit to Norway. At the age of seventeen she moved with her parents to a farm near Badger, Iowa. On another trip to Norway with her parents in 1908, she married Ola Aukland of Badger, who was also visiting Norway. They remained in Norway until 1923 and all six of their children were born there. The family moved to this country in 1923 and settled on a farm near Eagle Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Aukland retired to Eagle Grove in 1950.

Surviving her are her beloved husband, Ola and six children: Gudmund of Eagle Grove; Tommy of Goldfield; Lee of Ft. Dodge; John of Goldfield; Beata of Des Moines and Ellen, Mrs. Lawrence Watland of Inwood. Nine grandchildren also survive her as well as two brothers, Thomas Nodland of Frost, Minnesota and Solvie Nodland of Rockwell, Iowa. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death, Henry Joseph and Arthur Nodland, Emma, Mrs. Ed Byro, and Mary, Mrs. Ole Byro.

She became a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church in 1923, where the funeral service was conducted Saturday June 26 at 2:00, with the sermon by the pastor, the Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery.
