Albert J. Sunde
12 January 1892 ---- 28 February 1953

Albert J. Sunde was born to Jonus and Taletta Sunde on January 12, 1892 in Stavanger, Norway. The oldest of six children. He came to this country with his family in 1904. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education in the rural schools. The family settled on a farm in Dows, Iowa and later moved to a farm near Leland, Iowa.

As a young man he served his country in the United States Army in World War I and received an honorable discharge on December 11, 1918.

Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Gladys Bevers [Beireis] and to this union two children were born, Taletta and James.

On April 30, 1937 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Shaw of Eagle Grove where he has since made his home.

He became ill about a year ago and entered the Veterans hospital in Des Moines May 2, 1952. Following a serious operation for cancer of the stomach the 1st of July, his health continued to fail until his death February 28, 1953.

Mr. Sunde is preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister. He leaves to mourn his passing, two children, Taletta and James of Grundy Center, Iowa, his wife, Bernadine. six stepchildren, Mrs. Heslop, Mrs. Elliott Hill, Frances Johnston, Robert Shaw, and James Shaw, all of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Edward Strait of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Also, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. George Ogland, Mrs. Clifford Anderson of Williams, Iowa, Mrs. Elmer Hoverstein of Bode, Jonas Sunde of Buffalo Center. Also, nine step-grandchildren of Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Albert was a kind and loving husband, a good father to both his own and his stepchildren. He will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday March 2, 1953 at the Church of The Open Bible, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Rev. Lloyd W. Meyer officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
