H. A. Pratt, 82, died Saturday morning at his home in Eagle Grove following a lingering illness. A former Chicago and North Western engineer, Mr. Pratt retired on pension a few years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Marian, of Eagle Grove, Edward of Glendora, Calif., and Harry of Ames.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Harrison Dawes. Burial was beside his wife in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pratt were here for the services, but Edward, was unable to be present due to ill health. Among out-of-town friends who came for the funeral was Mrs. Stan Fritz of Des Moines.

Obituary

Harry Anson Pratt, the son of William and Marian Pratt, was born September 18, 1870 at Fulton, Illinois, and passed from this life on May 2, 1953 at his home in Eagle Grove at the age of 82 years, seven months, and fourteen days.

Mr. Pratt was baptized during infancy in the Episcopal Faith. Sometime later he attended school at Sioux Rapids, it was from the high school in this community that he received his high school diploma.

Mr. Pratt married Katherine Farnham at Sioux City, Iowa in 1899. They went to Scribner, Neb. to make their home. They had lived here but about one year when they moved to Long Pine, Neb. It was while living here that their daughter, Marian Louise, was born. Following a residence of two years at Long Pine they moved to Eagle Grove and have made their home here for the past fifty-seven years.

Mr. and Mrs. Pratt were the parents of three children, Marian Louise Pratt of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Edward A. Pratt of Glendora, California; and Harry F. Pratt of Ames. Besides his children he leaves to mourn his passing one granddaughter and two great grandchildren as well as one sister, Nellie M. Duroe of Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Mr. Pratt worked all his life for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. He retired from active service after serving for fifty-nine years. Besides his interest in his work, Mr. Pratt was very much devoted to his interest in gardening.
