Herbert Louis Nelson, age 64 of Dows, was found in the Iowa River south of Dows by a farmer in that area who noticed his pickup there earlier in the day and also late in the evening. The farmers in the area started a search and found his body around 10 o'clock that evening. An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death.
He was born November 1, 1903 at Dows, son of Knute and Enger Nelson.
He is survived by one brother and six sisters: Sam Nelson of Dows; Clara Hunter of Dows; Ida Benewitz of Dows; Isabelle Brage of Iowa Falls; Alma Tyler of Hampton; Martha Lindholm of Kansas City, Missouri and Caroline Lewis of Sisseton, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and his parents.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Van Hove Funeral Home in Dows. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
