2 March 1893 ---- 14 August 1981Clarion - Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Bennewitz, 88, of Clarion will be today at the Willim Funeral Home, Dows. Mrs. Bennewitz, formerly of Dows, died Friday (Aug 14, 1981) at a Clarion care center. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Dows.
Mrs. Bennewitz was born Ida Nelson in 1893 in Morgan township. She was raised and educated in Franklin County and married William Bennewitz in 1910 at Clarion. The couple farmed in Hamilton township until William Bennewitz died in 1930. She then moved to Dows. She moved to Clarion in 1970 and had been a resident of the care center since 1973.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Elmer (Caroline) Carpenter, Clarion; Mrs. Fred (Viola) Johnson, Hampton and Mrs. Margaret Brinkman, Hawaiian Garden, California; a son, Kenneth of Mason City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. George (Martha) Lindholm of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Clara Hunter and Mrs. Alma Tyler, both of Hampton.
