Emma Weir Cash
8 September 1871 ---- 10 July 1935

Emma Wier, [Weir] daughter of Hiram and Serena Wier, was born Sept. 8, 1871 in Wayne County, Ill., and passed away at the home of her daughter, Miss Ethel Cash, 1148 8th Street, Des Moines, soon after midnight, July 10, 1935, having reached the age of 63 years, 10 months, and two days.

Miss Wier spent all of her youth and young womanhood in and around Flora, Ill., attending the grade schools and then finishing the normal school preparatory to teaching. She taught school for five years in Clay county and was considered one of the very best teachers in the county at that time.

On the 29th of July, 1894, she was married to Lawrence Fulton Cash, going on a farm near Flora. To this union were born four daughters, all of whom survive her. They are: Nell Williams of Chicago, Miss Ethel of Des Moines, Mrs. Ada Reynolds of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Ruth Russell also of Des Moines. The Cash family resided on the farm in Illinois until the spring of 1914 when they moved to a farm south of Eagle Grove. They continued their residence on farms near Eagle Grove until the death of Mr. Cash in March, 1933, and since that time Mrs. Cash has been with her daughters.

Mrs. Cash joined the Methodist church as a girl and has continued her membership in that church since. She belonged to the local Methodist church at the time of her death. It is the testimony of those who knew her best, that she was a sincere Christian, a loyal and loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones who remain. She is survived by the four daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Frala of Flora, Ill., Mrs. Ella Pitchford of Fairfield, Ill., and six grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held in the Wilson Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. L. Breaw. Interment was made in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.
