Joseph Nervig
1 April 1895 ---- 2 December 1930

Joseph Nervig was born near Eagle Grove, Iowa April 1, 1895 and passed away from this life at the O’Toole & Christensen hospital at Eagle Grove at 7:45 a.m. Dec. 2, 1930, age 35 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

He was baptized and instructed in Christianity and confessed his faith Nov. 18, 1909.

Joseph lived in the community of his birthplace all his life. He never married and was operating his own farm, having a married man assisting him. While replacing a rope in the hay carrier of a neighbor’s barn, he fell to the ground Monday morning, Dec. 1, and was taken up in an unconscious condition and did not regain consciousness.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rachel Nervig, five brothers, Severt, Ole, and Martin of Eagle Grove, Amos of Des Moines, and Peter of LaCenter, Wash. Also by two sisters: Mrs. Helen Ryerson of Thompson, Iowa and Mrs. Mabel Anfinson of Nevada, Iowa, together with a large number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 5 from the home and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery. Rt. Rev. H. C. Holm had charge of the services in the absence of Rev. Severtson.

Among those attending the funeral from out of the city were: Mr. and Mrs. Ole Chelesvig, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Nervig, and A. C. Anderson and family, Huxley, and James and Eric Nervig of Humboldt.
