Grace Fern Gibbs Yeager Peterson
16 March 1894 ---- 1 November 1930

Gracie Fern Gibbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Gibbs was born March 16, 1894 in Scotland county, Missouri. She died at her home near Eagle Grove, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1930, after an illness of about 14 months duration.

She was married to Clyde E. Yeager, July 21, 1921. To this union were born two children, a daughter dying in infancy, and a son, Clyde Ellsworth, surviving. Mr. Yeager passed away Sept. 11, 1926.

Mrs. Yeager married John S. Peterson of this vicinity, April 29, 1929. Mr. Peterson also preceded her in death, passing away very suddenly. Oct. 8, 1930, only three weeks previous and while Mrs. Peterson was very ill.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her little six-year-old son, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gibbs, one brother, Robert L. Gibbs, one sister, Mrs. A. G. Dieterich and one niece, Elizabeth Dieterich, all of Wyaconda, Missouri, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Peterson united with the M. E. Episcopal church at the age of about 14 years. In 1918 her membership was changed from Granger, Mo. to Wyaconda M. E. church.

The departed sister loved her Bible and loved her Saviour. She confessed that she trusted in Jesus as her only Saviour and received strength through the promises of God to bear her heavy cross and all her sufferings uncomplainingly and in a patient Christian manner. The blow fell on her particularly heavy and distressing when her husband was taken away from her, when she herself was in great suffering and looked forward to the end. But His grace was sufficient to hold her up, even in a happy spirit, looking forward to death as gain, because she lived Christ.

The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 3 from the Holmes Lutheran church. Members of the local choir sang the same songs at the house and at the church which were sung at her husband's funeral shortly before. Text at funeral was Ps. 23 from which she had derived much comfort. Rev. P. Ljostveit conducted the funeral.

Her parents, sister and husband, brother, and niece, all from Wyaconda, Mo., were all present at the funeral. Several of them had been here during her long sickness, Little Clyde will have his home with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Dieterich.

The bereaved friends have the sincere sympathy of all the neighbors, members of the Holmes Lutheran congregation and the friends who learned to know and love Mrs. Peterson. They are strangers here and had experiences of affliction and sorrow in our midst. May God comfort and bless them as they go back to the old home in Missouri.

Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them (Hebr. 7,25).
