Martin Thomas Amonson
21 May 1895 --- 23 March 1931Martin Thomas Amonson was born to parents Severt and Martha Amonson, May 21, 1895, near Nuel, Iowa, and passed away from this life at his home with his brother, Omer in Eagle Grove, Iowa, March 23, 1931, age 35 years, 10 months, and two days.
Martin was baptized into Christ in infancy and received instruction in the way of salvation. He lived most of his life in the vicinity of Nuel, moving to Eagle Grove about two years ago where he was engaged in business together with his brother.
About three weeks ago he underwent an operation at the hospital in Fort Dodge and recovered sufficiently to come home, apparently getting along as well as could be expected. Last Sunday he had a relapse and passed away unexpectedly Monday evening.
Martin never married. His father passed away July 15, 1925. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Martha Amonson, and two brothers, Omer, and Miller, both of Eagle Grove. Also, by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Johnson of Kanawha, and Mrs. Theressa Hunt of Eagle Grove, together with a large number of friends. Last December when his schoolmate and boyhood friend, Joseph Nervig, passed away so suddenly, it made a deep impression on Martin.
Funeral services from the home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and from the East Side Lutheran church. Burial will be made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
