Hazel Vera Brooks
27 July 1902 --- 25 October 1976

Hazel Vera Brooks, the daughter of Charles and Minnie Reske Brooks, was born July 27, 1902 at Eagle Grove, Iowa.

She was a graduate of the Eagle Grove High School and of Drake University. She taught in the rural schools at Newell, Iowa for one year and in the Eagle Grove Community Schools for 39 years. She served as principal of Lela Howland Elementary School until her retirement in 1967.

Hazel died at her home on Monday, October 25 at the age of 74 years, two months, and 28 days.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred (Mrs. Rollie) Van Sickle, Humboldt, and Frances Wright with whom she made her home for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, and two brothers.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, of the Rebekah Lodge, and of the Past Noble Grands of the Rebekah Lodge.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 27 at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. Reverend C. Howell Bischoff officiated, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
