Ben Edward Solberg
21 March 1886 ---- 22 January 1929

An accident in a Wisconsin logging camp was responsible for the death of Ben Solberg, former Eagle Grove citizen, last week Tuesday, Jan. 22. A sister, Miss Olive Solberg makes her home in Eagle Grove, while another brother, Clarence lives at Granite Falls, Minn. They have the sympathy of their friends in their sorrow.

Ben Edward Solberg was born at Earlville. Ill. March 21, 1886, and died near Rib Lake, Wis., Jan. 22, 1929, at age 43 years, 10 months, and one day.

He was married to Miss Mathilda Martin at Ottawa, Ill., Dec. 18, 1907. Mr. and Mrs. Solberg lived in Illinois for several years, then they moved to St. James and Slayton, Minn., later to Story county, Iowa, and to Holmes and Stanhope, Iowa, where Mrs. Solberg passed away May 19, 1925. She was buried here at Eagle Grove, May 21, 1925.

Mr. Solberg met with an accident in a logging camp near Rib Lake, Wis., where he was employed and died almost instantly on Tuesday morning.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Solberg, one little boy died in infancy and four are living. They are: Clarmont, now in the U. S. Navy; Bernard, Orville and Carroll who are living with their uncle, Clarence Solberg. He is also survived by one sister; Miss Olive Solberg of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and one brother, Clarence Solberg of Granite Falls, Minn.

The body was brought to Eagle Grove Saturday by his brother and funeral services were held from the Foil & Wilson funeral rooms, Sunday afternoon, burial was made in the Solberg family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.
