Verda Opal Grove Evans
23 July 1890 --- 7 March 1976

Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore (Opal) Evans, 85, of Dows will be held from the First Lutheran Church in Dows Thursday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery and the Willim Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Evans died on Sunday afternoon at her home.

She was born on June 23, 1890 at Mt. Pulaski, Illinois and was the daughter of Adam J. and Louella Branson Grove. In 1902 she came to the Woolstock area with her family. She graduated from the Clarion High School in 1907, later attended Ellsworth College and taught in the rural schools of Wright County. On March 20, 1912 she was married to Theodore Evans at the home of her parents near Clarion. After their marriage they farmed south of Dows until 1952 when they moved to town.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her two daughters: Mrs. Carole L. Fitzgerald of Dows and Mrs. Doris L. Kornfeld of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: Donald Grove of Judith Gap, Montana; Mrs. Aldona Soren of Clarion; Mrs. Jessie Wadell of Mora, Minnesota and Mrs. Edna Castleman of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
