Harold Delbert Osborne
21 June 1905 --- 9 December 1983

Gladbrook - Dr. Harold D. Osborne, 78, of Gladbrook died Friday in Tama County. Born June 21, 1905 near Rowan, he was the son of William J. and Kate Newcomer Osborne.

He received his education at Dows schools, after graduation he attended Veterinary School at Iowa State University in Ames and graduated in 1929.

Dr. Osborne practiced in LeRoy and St. Paul, Minnesota before coming to Gladbrook on May 25, 1930. He practiced 43 1/2 years before his retirement in December of 1974. He owned and operated farmland in the Gladbrook area since 1944. He married Violet Sherwood.

He was involved in several professional, service and community organizations.

On March 5, 1945 he was married to Thelma Smith.

Preceding him death in death were a daughter, Jo Anne; his parents and a brother. Surviving are his wife, Thelma; a son, Donald Osborne of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers: Avonell Ferris of Chapel, Nebraska; Winnifred Erts of Popejoy; June Bates of Geneseo, Illinois; W. J. Osborne of South Sioux City, Nebraska and Elmer Osborne of Dows.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 12, 1983 at the Peace United Church of Christ. Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. conducted masonic rites. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Dows.
