Joseph Kenney
29 October 1843 ---- 28 December 1928

The remains of the late Joseph Kenney were brought to Eagle Grove for burial Saturday. Mr. Kenney lived in Eagle Grove from 1899 to 1909, at which time he moved to Des Moines.

While in Eagle Grove he was engaged in the blacksmithing business on the east side. He died at the home of his son, E. M. Kinney, at Des Moines last week Friday.

Obituary

Joseph Kenney was born in 1844 in Almont, Canada. He moved to Cedar county, Iowa in 1865. It was here that he was united in marriage to Hannah Heck. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1899, where they lived until 1909, when they moved to Des Moines. There were four children born to this union. One daughter, Zepha, died in Eagle Grove. The remaining ones are E. M. Kenney of Des Moines, Mrs. Geo. Finnegan of Valley Junction, and Mrs. T. C. Speers. There are also three grandchildren. Mrs. Kenney died in Des Moines in 1915.

Mr. Kenney was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Webster City for 47 years and also united with the Episcopalian church in his early youth. He was a kind, loving husband and father and a good neighbor. Mr. Kenney died at the home of his son in Des Moines, Dec. 28, 1928, at the age of 84 years.

Funeral services were held in the Foil & Wilson Funeral parlors. The sermon was preached by Rev. W. G. Muhleman. pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
