Marjorie Jane Hildebrande was born July 5, 1915, to Roy and Myrtle Gosnell Hildebrand at Cordova, Ill. She graduated from Goldfield High School in 1933 and then attended A. I. B. in Des Moines. She worked as a bookkeeper at Wallace's Farmer in Des Moines, and she also worked for the Clarion R. E. C. and Whyte and Son Implement in Goldfield. On September 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to John S. Whyte, Jr., at her parents’ home in Goldfield. She was a member of the Earl D. Beisell Legion Auxiliary Post #370 in Goldfield, the Sewing Club, Alpha-Delphia Club, and was a Cub Scout leader. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Goldfield where she was a Sunday School teacher.

Marjorie Jane Whyte died Thursday, August 14, 1997, at the Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion, at the age of 82.

Survivors include her husband, John, of Goldfield; one son, Steve Whyte and his wife, Nancy, of Goldfield; three sisters, Pauline Henry and her husband, Bill, of Newton, Rosemary Byrd of Iowa Falls, Rodean Frakes of Goldfield; one grandson, Joshua Bailey, of Dewey, Ariz.; and sisters-in-law, Harriet Bennett and Elizabeth Pojman, both of Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 16, 1997, at 11 a.m., at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with the Reverend Ellen G. Brantley officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.

Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
