Page 8, Column 2Hal Loobey from Montana and his sisters, Mrs. Warren Vest of Gary, Minn., and Miss Ocey from Cedar Rapids, all came home last week called here by the sudden death of their father, Nate Loobey.
The death of Nate Loobey in a Clarion hospital Tuesday night where he had gone for a minor operation on his throat was a shock to this community. Many had not even known of his illness.
For a few weeks he had been suffering from infected teeth and throat trouble and had been under medical care but he had not been confined to his bed. A weak heart caused his death, following an operation on his throat. One of the largest funerals, Sunday afternoon, ever held, in Goldfield was evidence of the place Mr. Loobey filled in the hearts of his friends. He had lived continuously in Wright county since coming to Luni with his parents at the age of seven, moving with his family from' Luni to this place. At the time of his death, he was 62 years of age. He was a charter member of Luni Baptist church and continued a faithful working member with the Goldfield Baptist congregation.
His pastor and friend Rev. J. S. Nicholson, conducted the services at the Baptist church in his memory and his remains are interred in Glenwood cemetery.
Mr. Loobey will be remembered as a good husband, a kind father and a staunch and true friend by those who will mourn his death. His family, who have the sympathy of all, are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Loobey, two sons Verne and Hal and two daughters, Mrs. Elva Vest of Gary, Minn., and Miss Ocey Loobey of Cedar Rapids, all of whom are here at this time.

This community was shocked on Wednesday morning, August 29th, to learn that N. M. Loobey had died in a hospital at Clarion the night before following an operation for removal of his tonsils. The main cause of his death is believed to have been poisoning from an infected tooth. All was being done for him that was possible but it is feared he waited too long.
The four children were telegraphed for but did not arrive in time to see him before his death. However, they all arrived Saturday except Verne, from California, who arrived later. The other children surviving are one son from Montana, Mrs. W. Vest from Minnesota, and Miss Ocey from Cedar Rapids.
The funeral was held at the Baptist church here Sunday afternoon, September 2nd, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. S. Nicholson. The attendance was large, the exercises impressive and floral tributes many and lovely.
Mr. Loobey was a consistent member of the Baptist church and a man of many fine traits of character, being especially noted for his industry and kindly disposition. Many relatives from away attended the services. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery.
