Mary Maude Bailey Diltz
31 August 1890 ---- 13 April 1944

Mrs. J.C. Diltz of Estherville, passed away at the Holy Family Hospital Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Diltz had been ill for several months and after going to Rochester, Minnesota and Iowa City for examinations returned home about a month ago and and entered the Holy Family Hospital where she was a patient until the time of her death.

Mary Maude Bailey was born at Dows, Iowa August 31, 1890 and spent her girlhood on a farm northeast of that town in Franklin County. She attended the schools of Hampton and later attended Ellsworth college at Iowa Falls. Upon completing her training there she taught school for about two terms.

On February 25, 1911 she was united in marriage to John C. Diltz at Clarion, Iowa and lived in Dows for a year. Most of Mrs. Diltz' married life was spent, however, in Iowa Falls and Estherville though she did live in Florida for one year.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Diltz; two daughters: Mrs. LuVerne Heyer of Jewell, Iowa and Mrs. Joseph Buckley of Estherville; two brothers: Albert Bailey of Dows and Emery C. Bailey of Cedar Rapids and two grandchildren, Caryl Ann and John Heyer of Jewell.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church following a short prayer service at the Sternborg Funeral Home. Burial was made at the Fairview Cemetery at Dows.
